Qrtzgeotherm: An ActiveX component for the quartz solubility geothermometer
نویسنده
چکیده
SUMMARY – An ActiveX component to calculate temperature and vapour fraction in a geothermal reservoir using the quartz solubility geothermometry was written in Visual Basic. The approach is based on the conservation of mass and energy (enthalpy). Four representative types of regression equations for quartz solubility: (i) a quadratic regression equation of 1/T and pressure P, (ii) a linear equation relating log SiO 2 to the inverse of absolute temperature T, (iii) a polynomial of T including logarithmic terms and (iv) temperature as a polynomial of SiO 2 including logarithmic terms are programmed. The quadratic regression equation fits well all the experimental solubility data in pure water along the saturation curve and provides better agreement between the calculated and measured down-hole temperatures in the case of Cerro Prieto. The down-hole temperatures in the wells M-50 and M-90 were also calculated through a well simulator, WELLSIM. There is a significant consistency between the estimated temperatures using both the approaches.

Surian volcano–sedimentary complex located on the eastern edge of the Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic zone, southwest Iran. Graphite schist is the most abundant lithological facies in this area. Due to the high grade of the graphite ore (up to 50%), the exploitation of the ore is economically valuable. Gangue minerals include quartz, muscovite, plagioclase, clinochlore, zircon and ilmenite. The occ...
متن کاملQuartz solubility in H2O-NaCl and H2O-CO2 solutions at deep crust-upper mantle pressures and temperatures: 2–15 kbar and 500–900°C
The solubility of quartz in H2O-NaCl solutions was measured at 2, 4.35, 10 and 15 kbar and 500–900°C, and at NaCl concentrations up to halite saturation, usually greater than 75 wt.%. Quartz solubility was also measured in CO2-H2O solutions at 10 kbar and 800°C. Solubilities were determined by weight loss of ground and polished quartz crystal fragments which were equilibrated with solutions in ...
متن کاملPrediction of Solubility of β-Carotene as a Component in a Multicomponent System in High-Pressure Carbon Dioxide
Solubility prediction of high molecular weight molecules in high-pressure solvents is an interesting field of research. Sometimes the solubility data are not available for several components due to lacking of valid equipments. Therefore, an accurate prediction technique can help the researchers. According to the literature, the simple Equations of State (EoSs) such as Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK),...
